#WUW
Finally some new stuff is coming down the pipeline, so I thought a What’s Up Wednesday post was well overdue! I’ve long held in the back of my mind how I should apply at least a portion of my artistic talents to charitable efforts. It only seems fair to repay in some small way for the joy that creative work brings –beyond, that is, whatever enjoyment people may take from the works per se. I’m a believer in Ars Gratia Artis, but I also believe in contribution to the common good. Not to over-inflate the significance of my contributions, it still makes me very happy to have been recently offered the opportunity to donate some work to two great causes in supporting victims of abuse in Dane County, WI.
Canopy Center Lift the Mask Fundraiser: I will be painting four masks (one of which is pictured above, unpainted) for the Canopy Center’s annual Lift The Mask fundraiser event on Friday, October 10th.
Dane County Rape Crisis Center Java Jive Fundraiser: I am donating my piece “For a Good Time…” (pictured above) to the Dane County Rape Crisis Center for the silent auction at their annual Java Jive fundraiser event on Sunday, October 5th.
If you are able, please consider marking your calendars and attending these events or donating to these two important organizations.
